At Immanuel LutheranFuneral services for Mrs. Clyde Roehr, 77 of St. Ansgar, who died December 11, 1982 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held December 15, 1982 at the Immanuel Lutheran church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating.
Verna Emelie Bertha (Decklever) Roehr was born April 12, 1905 in St. Ansgar township, the daughter of William and Amanda (Ruehlow) Decklever. She was baptized May 14, 1905 at St. Peter Lutheran church, Toeterville, by the Rev. George Landgrebe. She attended grade school in St. Ansgar, and also at the Spring Valley rural school. May 25, 1919 she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church here by the Rev. Paul Brammer. She attended high school in St. Ansgar until her parents moved to Osage where she then attended the Osage high school.
On March 3, 1926 she was married to Clyde Roehr at the Immanuel Lutheran parsonage here with the Rev. Paul Brammer officiating. They made their home in Cedar township near Osage until 1941. At that time they moved to Union township near Toeterville where they resided until 1946. They then moved to Otranto township near Mona and lived there for 32 years until retiring from farming and moving to St. Ansgar in 1978.
Mrs. Roehr had been newspaper correspondent for four area newspapers for 33 years. And for the St. Ansgar Enterprise for 27 years. She served as 4-H leader in Otranto township for six years and was 4-H county committeewoman for six years, serving these 12 years from 1947-1958. She also served as secretary of St. John's Ladies' Aid, Cedar township, and had served as secretary of the Immanuel Ladies' Aid, was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Dorcas-Mary Circle of Immanuel. Mrs. Roehr organized three women's clubs over the years; the Cedar Homemakers and East Cedar Merrymakers of Osage and the Otranto township Happy Hour Club and held offices in all of these.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde; sister-in-law; three nieces, Lorraine Harlis of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Norma Duncan of Denver, Colorado, and Marian Woolm of Sarasota, Florida; five nephews, Lavern Decklever of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; Wayne Decklever of Phoenix, Arizona; Richard Decklever of Osage, Iowa; Larry Decklever, Bloomington, Minnesota; and Melvin Decklever of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Lawrence Decklever of Osage. Burial was in the Osage cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of committal services.
