RITES SET FOR LENA ODDEN, OSAGE PIONEEROsage – Funeral services for an Osage pioneer, Lena Odden 85, have been set for 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Mrs. Odden died Wednesday morning at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. She had been exceptionally well until six weeks ago. Then she was hospitalized in Osage before going to Minneapolis. Death was caused by a heart block.
She was born April 4, 1872, to Ole and Kjersti Maakestad in Cedar Township. She attended the Cedar Valley Seminary and was rural school teacher prior to her marriage to Hans Odden in Osage. Her husband died in 1951.
Survivors include two sons, Lars, New York City; and Hilmer, Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Constance, Minneapolis; four grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Fagre, Primghar; and Ingeborg Klemesrud, Osage. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

Oline Christine “Lena” Maakestad was the daughter of Ole and Kjersti (Nelson) Maakestad. She married Hans Odden, the son of Lars and Olia (Teigen) Maakestad.
