AMES INSTRUCTOR TO BE BURIED IN OSAGE NEAR HIS BIRTH PLACE

Osage, Feb. 12 – Professor E. A. Pattengill, 55, who died Monday evening at his home in Ames after a three weeks’ illness from heart disease will be buried here.

He had taught mathematics in the state college for the past 30 years. Mr. Pattengill was born in Mitchell but most of his boyhood was spent in Osage. He was a graduate of the local high school, the state college at Ames, Cornell University in Ithaca, N. Y., and had taken post graduate work in the University of Chicago.

He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and attended their recent convention in Des Moines. He was a member of the Iowa Academy of Science and many other scientific organizations.

His widow, a daughter, Louise of Ames, and his mother, Mrs. G. D. Pattengill of Osage, survive.
Mrs. Pattengill, who had been with her son for two weeks, came home Sunday, but returned Tuesday morning to Ames to accompany the body to Osage for burial.

Ernest Alanson Pattengill was born March, 6, 1874 in Mitchell, Mitchell Co., Iowa, the son of George D Pattengill and Mary E (Brown) Pattengill. He married Emma Wenholz. (her name is from 1925 Iowa census)
