ADELINE JOHANNS

OSAGE, IOWA - Adeline Johanns, 80, of Osage, died Monday (April 8, 2002) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Adeline was born November 12, 1921, on the family farm near St. Ansgar, the daughter of Anton and Mary Ann (Kleinowski) Royek. Adeline married John R. Johanns Sr. on January 23, 1941, at New Haven, Iowa. They farmed near McIntire for five years and than moved to a farm northeast of Osage in 1946. They moved to Osage in 1991.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Ladies Guild and the MI Club.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with rosary at 6 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Theis and husband, Donald, of New Haven; three sons, John R. Johanns Jr., of Grand Island, Neb., Donald J. Johanns, of Fridley, Minn., and Gov. Michael O. Johanns, of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Francis Dempsey, of Elma, and Sylvia Churak of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchilren.

She was preceded by parents; husband, John R. Johanns Sr. in 1996; and seven brothers.
