WALTER 'BILL' WARBURTON
RICEVILLE - Walter "Bill" Warburton, 77, of Riceville, died Sunday (March 24, 2002) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home, 401 E. Main St. in Riceville, with the Rev. Herschel Hawf officiating. Burial will be at the Eddy-Kendallville Cemetery in Kendallville.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Walter was born on Feb. 19, 1925, in Jamestown Township, Howard County, Iowa, to John and Zeffie (Ford) Warburton. He received his schooling at the Round Grove School.
"Bill" farmed with this father until they moved into Riceville in 1951. He drove a mail route between Riceville and Decorah, worked in maintenance at Luther College and Riceville Community Schools retiring in 1989.
In retirement he enjoyed attending steam engine shows and collecting and watching videos of them.
He is survived by one brother, Dale Warburton and his wife, Kathryn, of Riceville; three sisters, Evelyn Anderson and her husband, Harold, of Riceville, Lois Eidness, of Osage, and Maryetta Mentel, of Waterloo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Harry Warburton; and three sisters, Lenora Gansen, Grace Warburton, and Dolores Lambers.
