Duane Nielsen

Duane Nielsen went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 22, 2009.
Duane was born in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, on May 30, 1931 to Kasper and May (Gilbert) Nielsen. He attended country school and Grand Meadow High School. In 1952 he entered the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky for his entire two years.
In 1955 he married Janet Sanborn, together they had five children. For over thirty years Duane owned his own company, servicing metering and control equipment found in water and waste water treatment plants. Upon retirement, the Nielsen's moved to Arizona and Duane worked for several years at the Scottsdale water campus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lyle**.
He is survived by a sister, Verla Holtan of Rochester, Minnesota wife, Janet of Scottsdale, Arizona and children Rose of St Paul, Minnesota, Dale of Shoreview, Minnesota David (Rhonda) of Rapid City, South Dakota, Tom (Phil) of Woodhaven, New York and Douglas (Stephanie) of Glendale, Arizona and six grandchildren: Nora Maxwell, Joshua, Lindsey, Ty, Bryce and Brooke Nielsen.
Donations may be given to David Opap, Spring of Hope International, 1223 Regis Terrace NE, Fridley, MN 55432. Memorial Service at Shoreview Community Center, 4580 N. Victoria Street (at Highway 96) in Shoreview, MN 55126 on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.
