Stacyville – Mrs. Nick Theobald, 72, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank Blake , Sunday.
Nee Bertha Pitzen, she was born in Stacyville September 17, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicolas Pitzen, pioneers of this area. She spent her girlhood here and was married to Nick Theobald in 1899. They engaged in farming.She leaves several children; Carl and Wilfred, Stacyville; Art, Sheboygan, Wis.; Erma and Isabelle, Rochester, Minn.; and Sister M. Agnese and Sister M. Joanice; two brothers; Fred and Joe Pitzen, and one sister, Mrs. Katie Blake, with whom she had lived for several years.
She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and of the local Catholic church.
Funeral will be Thursday at the church with burial in the church cemetery beside her husband.[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, September 13, 1950]

Bertha Olivia Pitzen was the daughter of Nicholas Pitzen and Katherine (Halbach) Pitzen. She married Nicholas Theobald, the son of John and Anna Mary (Guelich) Theobald.
