John Harlis, 63, former Osage resident died Friday at Charles City after a four year illness of a heart ailment. He had undergone surgery two years ago.
He was born September 25 1882, in Billinge, Sweden, son of Magnus and Bengta (Munson) Harlis. He came with his parents to Osage at the age of seven. He married Amanda Christiansen of Osage in 1905. He was employed in a cigar factory here and moved from Osage to Staples, Minnesota in 1928, and later to Charles City.
He leaves his widow, a son, John, Jr., Princeton, Minnesota; four sisters; Mrs. Clara Morin and Selma Harlis, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Albert Behrns, Crookston, Minn., and Everline Harlis, Scobey, Mont. Two brothers; Gustaf and Sig, and a sister; Mrs. Emma Beek, preceded him. The body is at Grosssmanns Funeral home at Charles City.

FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY FOR OLIVER WORKMAN
Charles City, Iowa -- Funeral services for John Harlis, 63, who died at his home, 901 Grand Avenue, Friday morning, were held at the Grossmann funeral home chapel Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. C. D. James of the central Methodist church officiating and interment in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Harlis had been in ill health for the last 3 years and prior to that time was employed here by the Oliver corporation for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, one son, John C., Princeton, Minn.; four sisters: Miss Everline Harlis, Scobet, Mont.; Mrs. Albert Behrns, Crookston, Minn.; Mrs. W. N. Morin, and Miss Selma Harlis, both of Minneapolis.
