PHILIP KOENIGS

STACYVILLE, IOWA - Philip Koenigs, 92, of Stacyville, died on Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2001) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Visitation Catholic Church, with a 3 p.m. rosary and an 8 p.m. prayer service.

Philip was born on March 8, 1909, in Meyer, the son of Peter C. and Anna (Kloeckner) Koenigs. He married Rosina Bissen on May 24, 1939, in Johnsburg, Minn. He farmed in the Johnsburg and Meyer areas until 1976, when they moved to Stacyville.

Philip loved horses, milk cows and Case farm equipment. After retiring Philip liked cracking walnuts and going to sale barns.

He was a member of Visitation Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and six sisters.

Philip is survived by his wife, Rosina, of Stacyville; two sons, David and his wife, Miriam Koenigs, of Marshalltown, and Charles and his wife, Diane Koenigs, of Des Moines; one daughter, Mary Marius and her husband, Julio, of Mitchellville, Md.; six grandchildren, Michael Koenigs, Mark Koenigs, Jon Koenigs, Jachel Koenigs Kinder, Javier Marius and Mariella Marius; one great-grandson, Samuel Kinder; and one brother, Tom Koenigs, of Adams, Minn.
