Herb Trout
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 5, 1988 at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, for Herb Trout, 84, formerly of Mitchell, who died Saturday, July 2, 1988 at Manor Nursing Home, Marshalltown, of natural causes. The Reverend William Perkins of Kanawha officiated and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell.
Mr. Trout was born February 20, 1904 in Overbrook, Kansas, to Albert and Willie (Correll) Trout. He moved with his family to the Mitchell area in 1917. He attended Mitchell schools and graduated from Mitchell High School. He attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. He returned to Mitchell where he owned and operated a grocery store for many years. He also farmed in the Mitchell area.
In 1931, he was united in marriage to Doris Stokes in Nashua. She preceded him in death in 1977.
In 1978, he was united in marriage to Bernice Risse in Arizona. They made their home in Arizona until 1987 when they moved to Marshalltown.
Mr. Trout was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Marshalltown; three sisters, Erma Culver of Vernon, Arizona, Wilma Zimmer of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mrs. Loren (Loxie) Federspeil of Waterloo; and three brothers, Charles of Ocala, Florida, Milton of Yuma, Arizona and Hilan of Mitchell.
