Robert PetersonFuneral services for Robert T. Peterson, age 51, who died Tuesday evening, January 26, after suffering a massive heart attack at his Des Moines home were conducted Friday, January 29 at 11 a.m. at the Plymouth United Congregational Church in Des Moines. Burial was at the Osage Cemetery, Saturday, January 30, with committal services at 12 noon.
Robert Thomas Peterson was born at Osage, May 17, 1931 to Ray and Mercedes Peterson. He attended the Osage public schools and was graduated from the Osage High School with the class of 1949. He was graduated from Grinnell College, Grinnell in 1953. Immediately after his graduation from college he joined the United States Air Force, serving two years, during which time he was stationed in Texas.
Robert Peterson and Janet Peterson, both of Osage, were united in marriage December 27, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Osage. They lived in Dallas, Texas 21 years. Five years ago they moved to Des Moines. Peterson was the president of the Schmidt and Henry Company, Mohawk Carpet Distributors for a six state area. He was associated with Armstrong and Paul Blackwell Floor Covering before his affiliation with Mohawk. He was past president of the South-West Floor Covering Association in Dallas, past president of Greater Dallas and Fort Worth Association, and a member of the Osage Masonic Lodge 102 AF and AM.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; two sons Mark of Dallas, Texas; and Eric of St. Marcos, Texas; one daughter, Margaret (Meg) at home; his mother, Mrs. Ray Peterson, Osage; and one sister, Mrs. John (Nancy) Boeve, Plymouth, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Peterson, who died in 1981.
