Year; Funeral Probably Friday

Riceville, Iowa — Pvt. Anton Koupal, 26, was killed in an accident at an army air field near Amarillo, Texas, Sunday, according to word received by his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rom Hughes, at Riceville.

His wife is the former Genevieve Kelley-Hughes. who spent her early girlhood in Osage. They have a son, David Gene, four months old.

Private Koupal's body was brought to Riceville by a military escort and funeral services will probably be held at the Riceville Catholic church Friday morning, with burial made in the Catholic cemetery there.

A message saying her husband was seriously injured came to Mrs. Koupal Saturday afternoon and she and her brother, Donald Hughes, and the baby started immediately by automobile for Amarillo. When they reached Albuquerque, N.M. where another brother, Sgt. Bernard Hughes, is stationed, a second message waited them, saying Private Koupal had died.

Mr. and Mrs. Koupal met at St. Mary's Hospital at Rochester when both were employed there. They were married at Riceville October 14, 1940, His parents. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Koupal, of Wagner, South Dakota also survive.
