OSAGE, IOWA — Leonard John Gilles, 74, died Tuesday at the Rockford Convalescent Home. He had been an invalid the last seven years.
Born at New Haven in 1891, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gilles. He was graduated from St. Mary's Academy in New Haven and was married to Lillian Taylor in 1922. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Masonic Lodge and Osage Chamber of Commerce. He owned and operated the Osage Cleaners for 27 years.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert, Salt Lake City, Utah; Jerry, Osage; a granddaughter; a brother, Leo, Charles City; three sisters: Mrs. Fred Smart, Osage; Mrs. William Finnegan, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Delberl Spurbeck, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial will he in the Osage Cemetery with Champion Funeral Home in charge.
