MRS. A. TOTTENHAM DEAD
At Osage, April 13th, of paralysis, Mrs. Louisa Tottenham, aged 62 years 9 months and 4 days.
The deceased was the devoted wife of Mr. A. Tottenham; was born in New York State in 1822; was married to Mr. A. Tottenham in 1845. About three years ago she had a stroke of paralysis, and a year ago last month she had a second one, from which she did not recover, although confined to her bed only about four weeks before her death.
She leaves a husband two daughters, and a son to mourn her loss, but they mourn not as those that have no hope, for she died in the triumph of faith, and when she could no longer speak she would place her hand on the heart and them point upward. Just before she died she repeated the passage of Scripture. “The day of one’s death is better than the day of one’s birth.”
------------------
“Thou art gone to the grave, but we will not deplore thee.
Since God was thy ransom, thy guardian, and Guide;
He gave thee, he took thee, and he will restore Thee.
And death has no sting since the Savior has died.”
