Mrs. Hans H. Knudson, whose maiden name was Guri Chenous, was born near Argyle, Fayette county, Wisconsin, on July 10th, 1850. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of her home parish.
In the fall of 1877, she was united in marriage to Hans H. Knudson, at St. Ansgar, Iowa. She and her husband lived on the old Knudson homestead, just west of St. Ansgar, for a few months. They then moved to Lakefield, Jackson county, Minnesota, and bought the rights to a homestead. In the spring of 1884 they returned to St. Ansgar and bought the old homestead, where they lived until 1907, when they moved to a farm near Wilson, Wisconsin. In 1921 they returned to St. Ansgar, where they have since resided.
Mrs. Knudson had been in feeble health for a number of years. She was stricken with flu-pneumonia a few days ago. The disease progressed rapidly and she succumbed to it on Sunday morning, February 25th at about eleven o'clock.
She leaves to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband and her daughter, Anna Knudson, two brothers and two sisters. The brothers and one sister live in Fayette county, Wisconsin, and one sister lives near Dows, Iowa.
The funeral was held at the First Lutheran church Thursday, March 1, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M.E. Waldeland, and the remains were laid to rest in the U.N.L. cemetery, just north of town.
