NORTON
Catherine Eagen was born in Ireland in 1822. Here she spent her childhood and girlhood in the companionship of her parents and brothers. In 1842 she married Thomas Norton. They came to America in 1848, settled in Portage, Wisconsin, and lived there until 1873, when they moved to Mitchell Co. Iowa, and settled on a farm in Douglas Township. Here they lived most happily until Death called the husband home some ten years ago. Since then she has made her home with her son Thomas Norton. After an illness of five weeks, she passed peacefully away July 16, 1905.
She died as she lived a most noble Christian woman, a loving faithful wife, a devoted self-sacrificing mother, a true friend and neighbor. She is gone but her memory will be long cherished for she possessed those attributes of character which makes a life long impression on those with whom she associated.
She leaves four daughters, six sons, sixty-three grand-children and great grand children and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.
Her daughters are Mrs. Emma Graham of Wisconsin, Mrs. Maria Stanley of Montana, Mrs. Anna Lonergan of Minnesota, and Mrs. Kate Green, of New Haven, Iowa. The sons, John, of St. Paul, Henry and Thomas of New Haven, James of Elma, Iowa, and Frank and Martin of Minnesota.
