LEWIS KNUDSON DIES
SUDDENLY, NOVEMBER 25
Funeral services were conducted for Lewis H. Knudson at the Elverum home last Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge of the service. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Lewis H. Knudson age 79, died suddenly on Thanksgiving Day at his home in St. Ansgar. He was born May 16, 1864, on a farm near St. Ansgar. He was baptized by Pastor C.L. Clausen and confirmed by Pastor Johan Olsen in the First Lutheran church at St. Ansgar.
June 10, 1889, he was united in marriage to Nickolina Nubson of Kensett, Iowa. To this union was born two children, namely Mrs. A.E. Engnes of Shullsburg, Wis., and Alma of St. Ansgar.
He homesteaded near Veblen, S. Dakota, in 1892, where he lived unti October, 1936. Since then he had made his home with his siter, Mrs. Kari Elverum, of St. Ansgar.
He is survived by his two daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Kari Elverum, St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Lisa Chenous of Blanchardville, Wis., also four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lewis Peter Hansen Knudsen was born May 16, 1864 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa to Hans Knudsen and Aase Larsdatter, the youngest of their six children.
Found in the 1870 - 1885 censuses living on his parent's farm at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa:
1870: Hans Canuteson 52, Osa Canuteson 50, Hans Canuteson 15, Carrie Canuteson 12, Leesa Canuteson 10, Lewis Canuteson 6.
1880: Hans Knudsen 60, Carrie Knudsen 22, Eliza Knudsen 20, Lewis Knudsen 16.
1885: Hans H Knudson 24, Julia H Knudson 24, Hans Knudson 64, Lewis H Knudson 20.
Lewis married Hannah Nicolina Nubson June 19, 1889 at Worth, Iowa. The couple had 2 daughters: Clara Hilma Knudson (1890 - 1985) & Alma Knudson (b 1892 - 1982 ).
The family homesteaded and farmed in South Dakota.
Found in the 1910 - 1930 censuses at Veblen, Marshall, South Dakota:
1910: Lewis Peter Hans Knudsen 45, Alma Knudson 17, Axel Eugnes 20, Clara Eugnes 19.
1920: Lewis Knutson 55, Knutson Knutson 27.
1930: Lewie H Knudson 65, Alma Knudson 37, Albin Eugness 26.
Found in the 1940 census at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa: Carrie Elverum 82, Lewis N Knudson 75 (widowed), Alma Knudson 47.
Lewis died November 25, 1943 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
