Forrest "Forky" Ellison

OSAGE, IOWA - Forrest Ellison, 89, of Osage, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage with the Rev. Peter Chang officiating. Burial will be at the Liberty Cemetery in Little Cedar.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and will continue one hour before services at the Faith Lutheran Home.

Forrest was born on April 3, 1921, in Marathon, Iowa, the son of Charles and Laura (Bond) Ellison. He graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1939. Forrest married his wife of 69 years, Virginia Young, on March 8, 1942, at the Little Cedar Baptist Church. He farmed for 50 years and was a Pioneer seed salesman.

Forrest was a member of the Little Cedar Baptist Church. Forky served on the boards of the Little Cedar School, Osage Community High School, Little Cedar Creamery, Little Cedar Elevator and the Liberty Cemetery Board in Little Cedar. Forrest and Virginia enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and in earlier years traveling with the Pioneer salesmen and their wives.

Forrest is survived by his wife, Virginia of Osage; daughter, Sheila O'Shea of Moline, Illinois; grandchildren, John Thomas O'Shea of Moline, Illinois, Erin O'Shea of Chicago, Illinois, and Jeffery (Skeeter) Ellison of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gordon, Howard and Marvin Ellison; and his son, Charles.
