ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Harold Lewis Fredrickson, 87, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2007) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood.

Harold Lewis Fredrickson

ST. ANSGAR — Harold Lewis Fredrickson, 87, of St. Ansgar, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

A private family memorial services will be held at the Mona Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minn., with Pastor Lydia Mittag officiating.

There will be a public visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S. in Northwood.

The family requests no flowers; memorial contributions be made in his memory.

Harold was born on January 25, 1920, to Fred and Ella (Luth) Fredrickson. He attended rural country schools near Northwood and worked for area farmers until he entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 13, 1941, in Des Moines, and was stationed at bases in California and Neah Bay, Wash. He was in an experimental radar unit for the Air Force which was attached to the Army Signal Corps and later was trained for a commando unit but was honorably discharged as a sergeant on Jan. 8, 1946, in McClellan Field, Calif., before he could be sent overseas.

Harold was united in marriage to Darlene (Muggs) Hinds on Sept. 11, 1944, in Mason City. Harold worked in Albert Lea and Clear Lake before moving to the Carpenter area where he farmed for 27 years and worked 18 years for B&K Lumber Co. in Northwood and owned his own construction company for eight years.

Other than work, Harold enjoyed gardening, his kids, fishing and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Darlene (Muggs) Fredrickson of St. Ansgar; children Scott (Ginny) Fredrickson, of Placerville, Calif., and Gary (Becky) Fredrickson of Byron, Minn.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as other relatives and friends.

His parents and one brother, Irving Fredrickson, preceded him in death.
