OTTO KNUTSON FUNERAL RITES AT FIRST LUTHERAN
Funeral services were held at First Lutheran church Tuesday, August 19 for Otto Knutson, 82, who died at his home in St. Ansgar Saturday, August 16, 1969. The Rev. Don Comnick was in charge of the service. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar.
Otto Knutson, son of Henry J. and Bertha (Nelson) Knutson, was born on a farm in Newburg township May 30, 1887. When a small child, he moved with his parents to the Knutson farm northeast of St. Ansgar where he grew to manhood. He attended school in rural Spring Valley and the St. Ansgar Seminary.
Otto was baptized and confirmed in First Lutheran by the Rev. Johann Olsen and had remained a faithful member until his death.
He had one brother, John, and two sisters, Sophia (Mrs. John Robertson) and Miss Nellie Knutson. On June 25, 1913 he was married to Ruth Warrington and eight children were born to this union. Harold, Riverside, Calif.; Genevieve (Mrs. Kenneth Olson), Sacramento, Calif.; Beulah (Mrs. Herbert Stickney), St. Ansgar; Minerva (Mrs. Charles Hughes), Glenn Ellyn, Ill.; Shirley (Mrs. Charles Cools), Orange, Calif.; Orray, St. Ansgar; Otto Jr., Littleton, Colo, One son, Avery died in 1960.
Most of his life was spent in farming until 1949 when he and his wife retired to their present home in St. Ansgar.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Ruth; seven children; 29 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Miss Nellie Knutson, and a number of cousins and many friends.
