Graveside services were conducted for Ole Johnson, of Austin, Minnesota, at the First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, Iowa, on Monday afternoon, July 21, 1947.

Mr. Johnson died at an Austin hosptial on Saturday, July 19, 1947, following a heart attack at the home of a daughter.

Mr. Johnson was a former resident of this vicinity and is a brother of Mrs. Amelia Kittleson and Mrs. H.B. Hansen.

He was born on September 19, 1863 at Kristiania, Norway, the son of Martin Johnson Nesset and Bertha Gunderson.

He married Nellie Mae Smith on Noveber 15, 1905 at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. The were the parents of four children: Adeline Beatrice, Mildred Georgina, Olaf Maxwell and Marjorie Eloise. Adeline died as an adolescent.

Nellie was born in 1883 in Mower county, Minnesota, and died in 1931 at Carpenter, Iowa.

Ole Martin Johnson was born in Mosnes, Solor, Hedmark, Norway, September 19, 1853. At the age of six weeks he emigrated to America with his parents, Martin and Bertha Johnson Naesset. The family settled in Dane county, Wisconsin, and then in 1865, moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, where Ole Johnson spent his early years. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of that community.

In 1904, he was united in marriage to Nellie Smith, who preceded him in death in 1930. They resided on a farm near St. Ansgar, Iowa. To this union were born four children; Adeline, who died in 1916; Mildred, now Mrs. Ervin Peterson of Austin; Marjorie, now Mrs. Erving Bugge of Austin; and a son, Olaf, also of Austin.

In 1926, Ole Johnson moved to a farm near Rose Creek, and later to the village of Rose Creek. In March, 1947, he came to Austin to live with his daughter, Mrs. Erving Bugge. It was here that he was stricken on Friday, July 18. On July 19, 1947, he passed away at St. Olaf hospital at the age of 83 years and 10 months.

Besides his children, he is survived by six sisters and two grandchildren; Mrs. Amelia Kittleson of St. Ansgar, Mrs. Eddie Hanson, Lyle, Mrs. Magnus Hanson of Lyle, Mrs. Henry Hanson of St. Ansgar, Mathilda of Independence, Iowa, and Mrs. Mina Hanson of Mason City, Iowa. Four brothers and a sister preceded him in death, George, Emma, George, Julius, and Gust. The two grandchildren are Jerry Dean and Sandra Kay Bugge of Austin.

Ole Johnson made a host of friends by his good nature and friendly disposition, and he will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasue of knowing him.

The body was taken to the Mayer Funeral home and funeral services were held Monday, July 21, at St. Olaf Lutheran church with Rev. John Skepstad officiating. The body was laid to rest at the First Lutheran cemetery at St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Langehough of St. Ansgar conducting the graveside service.

Pallbearers were Orlando Johnson, Morris Hanson, Carl Kittleson, Julius Kittleson, Walter Eggen and Janes Kuntz, all nephews of the deceased.
