Death occurred Thursday morning at a Mason City hospital after an illness from pneumonia and rheumatic heart disease.

Marlys Jean Klemesrud was born at Osage, Iowa, February 6, 1932. She attended the Osage schools, and was an outstanding student of the sophomore class of high school when illness forced her to discontinue her school work in March last spring.

She was a member of the girls' glee club and the mixed chorus of Osage high school. She took an active part in church activities, being; a member of the junior choir of the Lutheran church until moving to the country last year, where she joined the Rock Creek choir and the Luther League. She was a prominent member of the Girl Scouts during her residence in Osage, but when her health failed, gave up all strenuous activity. Marlys had just recently become a member of the West Cedar Sunbeams, a 4-H organization.

Besides her mother and father, she is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth and Kathleen, two brothers, Gary and Richard, her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Klemesrud of Whittier, California, and by her maternal grandfather, Martin H. Maakestad of Osage.
