Funeral services for George Johnson, 94, were held Saturday at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Don Comnick in charge. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Johnson died Wednesday morning, January 1, 1964, at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage.

George Julius Johnson was born to Sven and Mary Johnson December 18, 1869 and was baptized the same year by Pastor E.J. Harmm. On October 7, 1883 he was confirmed at Lessor, Wis. by Pastor Adolph Peterson. He attended Wittenberg Seminary at Wittenberg, Wis. and St. Ansgar Seminary, St. Ansgar.

He was married to Helen Matilda Halvorson by Pastor John Olsen July 1, 1897 at the First Lutheran church.

Survivors include two sons, Alvin of Orchard and Selmer with whom he made his home near St. Ansgar, also four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, two brothers and three sisters.
