Funeral services for Martin O. Johnson, 80, who died at the Lake Mills Nursing Home November 16, 1971, were held November 19 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.

Martin O. Johnson was born February 24, 1891 in Carpenter, the son of Ole and Mary (Gilbertson) Johnson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

On December 27, 1917 he was united in marriage with Nettie O. Soloman of St. Ansgar. One son, Norris, was born to this marriage.

Mr. Johnson spent most of his adult life farming and working in Myrtle, Minn. area. He retired to a small acreage near Myrtle and resided there until his illness in May 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and one brother.

Surviving are his son, Norris of St. Ansgar; two brothers, Anton of St. Paul, Minn. and Gilbert of Carpenter; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Deer Creek cemetery, Carpenter with Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal services.
