Ruth I. Jensen -- Chatfield
CHATFIELD -- The funeral for Ruth I. Jensen, 78, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Justin Halbersma officiating.
Burial will be in St. Ansgar, Iowa, at a later date.
Mrs. Jensen, of Chatfield, died Friday (April 11, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, where she had been a patient for four days.
Ruth Irene Roe was born May 16, 1929, in Webster City, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she attended Normal Training. She married Merle Jensen on May 30, 1948, in Garden City, Iowa. He died June 23, 1983. The couple lived in Webster City, Iowa; rural Osage, Iowa; and rural Manly, Iowa. They made their home in rural Pilot Mound from 1963 to 1984; Mrs. Jensen then moved to Chatfield. She was a former administrator for the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield and was an employee and volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester as a relief manager. She also worked for Mayo Hospice and was a grief counselor and in-home caregiver. She enjoyed quilting, baking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Diane (Phil) Dammen of Sparta, Wis., Kathy (Ron) Gumm of Kuwait, Nancy (Rick) Arnold of Chatfield and Julie Jensen of Rothschild, Wis.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (Ann) Roe of Ames, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be an hour before the service at the United Methodist Church. There will be no reviewal.
Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House, Chosen Valley Care Center or Mayo Hospice.
Riley Funeral Home of Chatfield is handling the arrangements.

Ruth Irene Roe was the daughter of Ole Roe and Mary (Maisland) Roe. She married Merle Eugene Jensen, the son of Marion Jensen and Cecelia (Hansen) Jensen of Saint Ansgar.
