FRANK COONRADT DIES AT OSAGE
RITES ARE INCOMPLETE FOR PIONEER FARMEROsage – Funeral services are incomplete for Frank Coonradt, 83, who died Saturday morning at his home in Osage after having suffered a stroke three weeks ago. He had been in poor health for many years. The body is at the Champion Funeral Home.
He was born on June 22, 1859, in Dane County, Near Stoughton, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Coonradt. At an early age, he accompanied his family to Kansas, walking the 1,000 miles barefooted at the rate of 25 miles a day. His parents had two covered wagons, but it was necessary for him to walk to drive the cattle.
They remained in Kansas a short time, then returned to Wisconsin. At the age of 13, they came to Mitchell County, and resided on a farm near New Haven. In 1886, he was married to Emma Raisty. They came to Osage to make their home in 1919.
Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Ora and Lee, Charles City; Herbert and Floyd, LeRoy, Minn., and Ernest, Waverly; and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Decker of Riceville. One son, Albert, preceded him in death in 1936.

PIONEER, DIESFrank Coonradt, 83, died at his home in Osage Saturday morning, April 10, 1943. Mr. Coonradt has been in failing health the last few years and had nearly lost his eyesight. About three weeks ago he suffered a stroke from which he failed to recover.
Frank Coonradt, son of Henry and Lavinia Daggett Coonradt, was born near Stoughton, Wisconsin, June 22, 1859, and passed away at his home in Osage on Saturday, April 10, 1943, at the age of 83 years. He was the second in a family of five children, and the last remaining one at the time of his death.
He went to Kansas with his parents at the age of 12, walking 25 miles a day behind the covered wagon until they had covered a distance of 1,000 miles. He walked this distance barefooted, driving the cattle. They came to Mitchell county, Iowa, in 1872, settling on a farm near New Haven, known as the Fred Coonradt farm.
On February 2, 1887, he was married to Emma Raisty at new Haven by the Rev. Young. Seven children were born to this union: Ora and Lee of Charles City, Herbert and Floyd of LeRoy, Minnesota; Ernest of Waverly, and Mrs. Ralph Decker of Riceville.
He was preceded in death by one son, Albert, who passed away six years ago; one brother, Fred; three sisters: Mrs. Emma Andrews, Mrs. Delilah Smith, and Mrs. Lillie Andres; and four half brothers: Salathiel, Lester, Isaiah, and Noah.
Mr. and Mrs. Coonradt farmed in Mitchell county until 1919, when they retired and moved toOsage.
He is survived by his widow, by whom he will be greatly missed because of their great devotion for one another. He is also survived by the six children, ten grandchildren and by four great-grandchildren.
Soon after moving to Osage on April 16, 1922, he and his wife united with the Congregational church. Of late years they were unable to attend church because of their advanced ages.
Funeral service was held at the Congregational church on Monday, conducted by the Rev. Stiles Lessly. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
