VERA H. BARTZ

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Vera H. Bartz, 90, formerly of Grafton, died Friday (Sept. 1, 2000) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson and the Rev. Rose Marie Nack officiating. Interment will be in Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before the service at the church Wednesday.

Vera was born December 13, 1909, near Grafton in Worth County, the daughter of Julius and Ella (Hollatz) Hartwig.

On Oct. 15, 1932, she was united in marriage with Alvin Bartz. They farmed north of Grafton for 55 years. After the death of Alvin in 1987, Vera moved to St. Ansgar.

She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Vera is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Lane of Crystal, Minn., and her two sons, Barret Lane and his wife, Pamela Stahlheim Lane and their children, Benjamin and Daniel, and Stuart Lane and his wife, Heather, and their children, Ethan and Garrett; and a son, Eugene Bartz, of rural Grafton and his four children, Bonnie Ayers and her children, Katie and Kelsey, Michael Bartz and his wife, Melinda, and their children, Adam and Trevor, Brenda Billings and her children, Ryan and Karl, and Mark Bartz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 1987; a son, Roger; her parents, Julius and Ella Hartwig; and three brothers, Rudolph, Raymond and Wilmer Hartwig.
