Christine Petersen Hansen was born September 1, 1868 in Schieswig, Germany and passed away November 22, 1923 at Hudson, Wisconsin.
At the age of sixteen she came to St. Ansgar, Iowa with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Fedson.
March 5, 1887, she was married to H.C. Hansen at St. Ansgar by Rev. Olsen. To this union two children were born, Mrs. C.M. Thompson of Canton, S. Dak., and Marie of St. Paul, Minn.
She made St. Ansgar her home until six years ago when, because of ill health, she was taken to a sanitarium at Hudson, Wis. Here everything that doctors and nurses could do was done for her to bring back her health, but it was not to be. She was taken with the flu last February and since then has been steadily failing until Thursday morning when she slept peacefully away.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two children, two grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
A short funeral service was held at the sanitarium Friday evening, conducted by Rev. Thompson, of the Bethel Lutheran church at Hudson. Rev. Thompson had called on Mrs. Hansen several times the last few months.
The funeral service at St. Ansgar took place Saturday afternoon, November 23, at three o'clock and was largely attended. A host of relatives and friends extended loving sympathy. Mrs. Hansen was laid to rest in the Evergreen Lutheran cemetery, her pastor, Rev. M.E. Waldeland, officiating.
