OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Mrs. Ellen Gisleson, 84, who died Wednesday at the Mitchell County Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with burial in Osage cemetery.

Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Purvis of Marshalltown; a son, Everett of Floyd: and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday for an Osage woman, Mrs. Ellen Gisleson, 84, who died on June 9, 1971, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage. She had been a resident of Faith Home since November 1969.

Rev. D. Berg, pastor of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, was in charge of the services at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and C.R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Ellen Hegg was born on a farm west of Osage in the Rock Creek area, on December 24, 1886, the daughter of Edwin and Sarah Syverud Hegg. She was confirmed on June 2, 1901, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church by Rev. J.A. Urnes. She attended the rural school of the area.

George Gisleson and Ellen Hegg were united in marriage on November 28, 1923.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Purvis (Candace) of Marshalltown; one son, Everett Gisleson of Floyd, and five grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Ellen Susanna Hegg was bor​n December 24, 1886 at Ce​dar, Mitchell, Iowa to Edwin E. Hegg and Sarah Syverud.

Ellen was baptized on February 25, 1887 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and confirmed at same on June 2, 1901.

Found in the 1895 - 1920 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Ellen Hegg age 8.

1900: Edwin Hegg (age 49) and Sarah Syverud Hegg (age 49) and their children: Nels E. 25; Albert T 22; Emma M. 19; Tilda B, age 17; Ellen S.13 and Oscar J 11.

1910: Edwin E Hegg 59, Sarah Hegg 57, Alfred T Hegg 33, Ellen Susanna Hegg 23.

1915: Ellen Hegg age 24

1920: Albert T Heigg 41, Nels Heigg 44, Edwin E Heigg 69, Sarah S Heigg 66, Ellen S Heigg 32, Erwin P Peterson 13.

Ellen mar​ried George Gisleson N​ovember 28, 1923 at Rock Cr​eek Lutheran Church, M​eroa, Cedar, Mitchell,​ Iowa. The couple had 2 children.

Found in the 1925 - 1940 censuses at Floyd , Iowa:
1925: George Giselson 47, Ellen S Giselson 38, Henry O Giselson 48.

1930: George Giselson 52, Ellen S Giselson 42, Henry O Giselson 54, Candace Giselson 5, Evert P Giselson 3 [3 6/12].

1940: George Gislison 62, Ellen Gislison 53, Candace Gislison 15, Everett Gislison 13, Henry Gislison 63.

Ellen died June 9, 1971​ at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa​ and is buried at the Osage City​ Cemetery.​
