ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Funeral services for Carl Halvorson, former resident, who died in a hospital at Beach, North Dakota, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church here.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife.

He leaves two brothers, Herman, Waterloo, Iowa, Ingwald, Osage; and one sister, Mrs. Christian Heltne, Decorah.

Funeral services for Carl Otto Halvorson, 70, were held Friday, March 16, 1951 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.

Carl Otto Halvorson was born on a farm south of St. Ansgar on December 23, 1880 and died at Beach, North Dakota on March 10, 1951 at the age of 70 years, two months and 18 days.

He was baptized March 6, 1881 by Rev. Schonhovd and confirmed April 28, 1895 by Rev. Johan Olsen.

The late Mr. Halvorson received his public school education in a rural school and the St. Ansgar public schools, after which he enrolled at the St. Ansgar Seminary where he graduated from a commercial course. He also attended St. Olaf College at Northfield, Minnesota for one year.

Up to 1905 he lived in and near St. Ansgar except when he attended St. Olaf College and spent several months at Rock Rapids where he worked as a carpenter. Later he taught school at the Beloit Orphan's home for five years, leaving there in the spring of 1911. He then served as Deputy County Auditor of Mitchell county for one year.

In 1912 he moved to Beach, North Dakota where he was employed in the Farmers and Merchants Bank for 22 years. After leaving the bank he took up the work of city clerk for the city of Beach and also was an insurance salesman up to the time of his death.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Christian Heltne of Decorah; two brothers, Herman of Waterloo and Ingwald of Osage; three nephews, Paul and Bernard Heltne and Louis Halvorson; also many other friends and relatives.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of committal services.
