Osage – Funeral rites are tentatively planned for Thursday afternoon for Edward Gaarder, 60, who died of a heart attack while checking his time card following work with a construction company at Clear Lake. He had been south many winters for an arthritic condition, but recently had been in good health.Born July 16, 1887, to Ellef and Gunnild (Leverson) Gaarder, in Albany, Wisconsin, as a young man he accompanied his family to St. Ansgar, where on September 29, 1910, he married Mary Gunderson.
Their first home was in St. Ansgar; lived successively in Joplin and Chester, Montana for many years, and in Osage, where he was an automobile mechanic.
He leaves his wife, Clear Lake; his aged mother, 92, Osage; a son, Donald, government auditor at Mt. Rainier, Md.; daughter, Mrs. Harvey Bishop, Yates Center, Kan.; 3 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alfred Ask, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Golberg, Carpenter; Ida Gaarder, Osage; and a brother, Henry, also of Osage.
Preceding him in death were his father, two infant children, and a brother and sister Sever Gaarder and Mrs. Leonard Knudson.Waterloo Daily Courier, Wednesday October 8, 1947
