LAKE MILLS, IOWA - Funeral services for Clair Canny will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with the Rev. Sara Beth Akre officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Lake Mills.

Visitation was held Friday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home and will be held one hour prior to services today at the church.

Clair Russell Canny, son of Clarus and Eunice (Pacey) Canny, was born March 22, 1934, in Mitchell County.

He graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1953.

He began working for the Osage Cooperative elevator shortly after graduating and continued working as manager of grain elevators until retiring in 1995.

On Aug. 1, 1954, Clair was united in marriage to Janice Julius.

He enjoyed golfing, working with stained glass, wintering in Texas and spending time with his family.

Clair passed away Thursday (July 27, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, following a battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Canny, of Lake Mills; three sons, Steve Canny and his friend, Carolyn Hope, of Cherokee, Mark Canny and his wife, Tammy, of Austin, Minn., and Lynn Canny and his wife, Deb, of Lake Mills; two daughters, Lorie Wilson and her husband, Roy, of Rockford, and Becky Sanford, of Rochester, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Eunice; two brothers; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarus; and his daughter, Lynette Hollatz, who died July 31, 1991.
