HOUSE RAMMED BY CAR, OCCUPANT DROPS DEAD

Osage – An unusual “car-house” accident here early Tuesday may have been a contributing factor in the death of a lifelong resident.

William Virchow, 71, died of a heart attack shortly after his house was struck by a car driven by Morris Leivrouw Jr., 19, Osage.
According to Osage policeman Clifford Lewis, Lievrouw lost control of his car when it hit a soft shoulder. The car then swerved across the street, hit a light post and then crashed into the Virchow home.

Mrs. Virchow said her husband got out of bed to investigate the crash and collapsed in the living room. He was dead on arrival at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Virchow had a history of heart trouble.
Lievrouw is in the Osage Hospital suffering from shock. His car was damaged extensively, according to Lewis.

Virchow, a World War I Veteran, is survived by his wife, a son, William, Sheldon, and two grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Fred Birum, Osage.

Funeral services are pending at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage.
