Mrs. Karen Anderson was born at Hadeland, Norway on June 1, 1856 to Gulbrand and Gulbjor Dynna Liaeker. In July 1883, she came to America with her mother and located in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.
Mrs. Anderson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of her native place, and since coming to this community, she had always been an active and respected member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
On March 6, 1885, she was married to John C. Anderson, also of this community, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1916. Immediately after their marriage, they bought a farm in Cedar Township and she lived there until her death. She was the mother of five children, and the following survive her: Julius, Andrew, and Lizzie, all of this community. A brother, Jorgen Liaeker of Minneapolis, and nine grandchildren also survive.
While Mrs. Anderson has not been a physically strong woman, she had been active most of the time until near the end of her life. She passed away on February 10, 1937 at her home.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on February 15th and interment was made in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
