I. Iverson Is
Stricken While
Fishing, DiesOSAGE, IOWA - Ingwald Iverson, 65, well-known Osage cabinet maker, was found dead at 8 a.m. Sunday on the banks of the Cedar River near this Mitchell County town.
His body was discovered by Paul Schmidt who was fishing nearby. Iverson had left Osage about 6.a.m. and trudged down the banks of the Cedar River Bridge across Highway 9.
He evidently had waded into the shallow stream and to a secluded point where he was getting some minnows when stricken. He was to have met a friend for fishing at 9 a.m.
Dr. R. L. Whitney said death was due to a heart attack.
Mitchell County Sheriff Louis Haberkorn and Ben Davis, county conservation office, used a canoe to get to Iverson as they were unable to penetrate the dense underbrush and brambles by foot.
Iverson was an ardent angler and a charter member of the Mitchell County Conservation Club. He was a member of the Masonic Order of Osage and of the Osage Congregational Church.
He was born March 27, 1890, in Osage, the only child of Anton and Mathia Iverson and with the exception of 15 years at Madison, Wisconsin, spent his life in Osage. He married Nellie Pepperling, Iowa Falls, who survives him, on March 16, 1918. His wife is the city librarian.
His three children preceded him in death.
Funeral rites are pending at the Champion Funeral Home at Osage.
