Nellie Gilbertson, 81,
Dies; Funeral Held in
St. Ansgar Saturday
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Nellie Gilbertson, 81, of St. Ansgar, who died in her sleep at her farm home Tuesday night. Services were under the direction of a Christian Science Reader, George Kanner of Mason City, and burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar.
Nellie Mathilda Gilbertson was born on the Gilbertson homestead south of St. Ansgar, January 15, 1874, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Gilbertson.
She attended the rural school at Olin, and the St. Ansgar Seminary, later going on to the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She became a teacher, and taught in schools in Duluth, Minnesota, North Dakota and the Olin rural school where she had received her own early schooling. Following the death of her mother she returned to the family home, where she has since lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
