Osage, Jan. 19. – Mrs. Adam Weaverling, 72 died at the home of her son Perry Weaverling Monday evening. She will be buried tomorrow. Her death followed a long illness. Her husband and a daughter preceded her in death.
Four sons survive: Richard and Petty of Osage; John of Atlanta; George and Howard of Milwaukee.
A sister, Mrs. Frank Kriger, lives at Floyd; a brother, Silas Oldham at Charles City; three brothers; William, Henry and Sanford in Washington; David at Wagner, S. Dakota; Absolam at Sturgeon, Mo., and Ed at Moberly, Mo.
Mrs. Weaverling was born in Columbus County, Indiana. When she was married she united with the Osage Methodist Church of which she was a member 43 years.. A service conducted by Dr. S. E. Ellis will be held at Shelledy Funeral home tomorrow at 2 o’clock.

Died Monday Night,
After Long Illness
Mrs. Adam Weaverling, one of the best-known women of the town, passed away at the home of her son, Perry, Monday evening, after an illness of many months. It was about a year ago that Mrs. Weaverling fell on the icy walk and fractured three ribs. She never wholly recovered from that, and with a complication of other trouble; has suffered more or less severely since.
However, she was up and about and only a few weeks ago was up town, collecting freight bills for her son, as she had done for many years whenever she was able.
Susan Jane Oldham was born November 10, 1860, in Columbus county, Indiana. She was the daughter of Absalom and Margaret Oldham.
The family moved to Andalusia, Illinois, when Susan was 7 years of age. Here she grew to womanhood.
She came to Iowa, in 1882 and was married to Adam M. Weaverling on November 5, 1884.
Mr. and Mrs. Weaverling resided in and near Osage ever since their marriage. He died May 9, 1922. She passed away January 16, 1933, aged 72 years, 2 months and 6 days. She had lived in Mitchell county over forty-nine years and in Osage more than forty-three years.
Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Weaverling: Richard R.,and Perry E.,of Osage; John B. H.,Atlanta, Ga.; Howard E., of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Ruth E., who passed away in 1920.
Mrs. Weaverling was baptized at the age of 14 by immersion in the Mississippi river. She was a member of the Baptist church for about nine years; then when she came to Osage united with the Methodist church, of which she remained a faithful member for forty-three years, to the end of a useful life. She loved her church and its standards, and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by the sons mentioned above also by seven brothers and one sister: William, Henry and Sandford Oldham, who live in the state of Washington; David, Wagner, S.D.; Absalom, of Sturgeon, Mo.; Edward, of Moberly, Mo.; Silas, of Charles City; and Frank Kreuger, of near Floyd. There are nine grandchildren and a number of cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoo at 2 o'clock at the Shelledy funeral home, conducted by Dr. S.E. Ellis, pastor of the Methodist church, and burial made in the Osage cemetery.
