OSAGE - Jon L. Olsen, 43, of Osage, died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at University Hospitals in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St. in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery with military rites by Osage American Legion Post 278.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
He was born April 14, 1957, in Osage, the son of Lowell and Margaret (Johnson) Olsen. He attended schools in Osage and graduated from Osage High School in 1975.
He worked at various jobs in the Osage area. He joined the U.S. Army in 1980. Following his discharged from the Army in 1984, he returned to the Osage area and worked in construction.
Jon married Roberta Hanson on April 28, 1999, at Prairie du Chien, Wis. They made their home in Osage.
Jon enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved many types of music. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 278.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and loving wife, Roberta.
He was survived by his wife, Roberta Olsen, of Osage; parents, Lowell and Margaret Olsen, of Osage; two sisters, Marcia Taeger and husband, Keith, of Burlington, and Diane Kleckner and husband, Larry, of Audubon; three brothers, Jim Olsen and wife, Beth, of Osage, Jeff Olsen and wife, Jayne, of Osage, and Jay Olsen and wife, Sheila, of Osage; and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Ruth Johnson; and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Clarice Olsen.
