Linda Sue DeFord

RUDD, IOWA - Linda Sue DeFord, 70, of Rudd, entered into her eternal reward on Thursday, November 11, 2010, surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be held at the New Life Tabernacle located at 1416 South Delaware in Mason City on Thursday, November 18. Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. with service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jason Boyd will be presiding. A luncheon will follow in the friendship room. All are welcome to pay their respects and share their memories.

Linda was born on November 5, 1940, in Hendrick, Iowa to Donal and Helen (Minnie) Smith. She was part of a large family with many brothers and sisters. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School.

Linda grew up living and working on the farm. Upon moving to North Iowa, she dedicated over 20 years of service to Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she worked in Dietary Management.

Linda was joined in marriage with Robert DeFord on December 16, 1960. Their union was blessed with four children: Robyn Carlson of Nora Springs, Russell DeFord of Rudd, Rick (Linda) DeFord of Rockford, and Ronald (Brandy) DeFord of Mason City. Grandchildren include Nathan Carlson, Dylan, Hunter, Rebecca and Bree DeFord. She had one great-granddaughter, Makynna Lynn Carlson.

Linda was an active member of the Faith Bible Chapel in Charles City. She enjoyed doing word searches, playing cards, spending time with her family, and cooking for her loved ones. She also enjoyed volunteering as part of the Iowa SHARE program in Charles City. However, most of her free time was spent with her beloved dog, Chico.

She was preceded in death by her mother Helen, and her youngest son Ronald (Jake).
