MARY VOAKLANDER

OSAGE - Mary Voaklander, 81, of Osage, died Sunday (Oct. 31, 1999) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Osage, with Father Philip Recker officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. scripture service.

Mary was born on April 26, 1918, in Riceville, the daughter, of James and Emma (Auringer) Dargan. She graduated from the Riceville High School in 1936. She married Clark Voaklander on Jan. 11, 1939, in Austin, Minn.

They lived in the Elma and Osage area and also farmed near Little Cedar for many years. Clark died in 1958, after which Mary continued to farm until 1968, when she moved to Osage. She was employed at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital as a Nurse's aide and later as a ward clerk, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she helped as a volunteer. She enjoyed doing handy work, gardening, baking and her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Brown and her husband, Richard, of Stacyville and Ann Williams and her husband, Robert, of Osage; four sons, David and his wife, Alverna, of Minneapolis, Joel and his wife, Judy, of Osage, John, of Osage, and Jeffrey and his wife, Julie, of Osage; three sisters, Florence Badker, of Osage, Agnes Kleckner, of Osage, and Rosemary Kinter, of Des Moines; two brothers, Bernard Dargan, of El Paso, Texas, and Paul Dargan, of Seattle, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clark; one son, James; one grandson, Andrew; and two brothers, James Dargan and Francis Dargan.
