Olive Louisa (nee Trowbridge) Morse October 5, 1853 – August 25, 1932
"Olive Morse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Trowbridge was born in Plymouth, Sheboygan County, Wis., October 5, 1853. At the age of 12, with her family, she came in a covered wagon to Mitchell County, where she lived the remainder of her life, fifty-two years of which were spent in one block in Osage. Her early education, after coming to Iowa, was obtained in the public schools of Osage and completed in the Cedar Valley seminary. She spent some years teaching in the public schools of Mitchell County.
She was married at the age of 22 years to Isaac Harleigh Morse. To this happy union three children were born--Lois, now Mrs. George Wolff, of Little Cedar; James Warren, of Estherville, and Albert Harleigh, of Osage. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Dora Bigelow, of this city.
Mary Haight-Salisbury came into the home in March, 1902, and with unselfish love and devotion made her place as a real daughter and sister in the family circle. Mrs. Morse also leaves eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Through the passing years Mrs. Morse has been a loyal and active member of the Methodist church; the Woman's Home Missionary society, an active member of the Bethany Chapter of O.E.S., the W.C.T.U., and the Naturalist club.
With her loving family close about her, at the close of the day on Thursday, August 25, Olive Morse folded ministering hands, laid aside the tasks of an ever busy life of loving service to family and friends, to journey from her earthly home into the Great Beyond. Because of a fall late in June, Mrs. Morse was confined to her home, some of the time to her bed. It was believed for a time that she would recover from her injuries, but the shock was too great for her to overcome.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Methodist church, in charge of her pastor, the Rev. S. E. Ellis, and interment was made in the Osage cemetery
