RITES TUESDAY FOR FORMER NORTH IOWAN

Charles City: A former Charles City resident, Mrs. Emma Abel, about 57, died Friday morning at Gulfport, Miss. Death was attributed to heart trouble and complications. She had been ill for several months. The body will be returned to Osage for burial.

Mrs. Abel was the former Emma Koebrick, stepdaughter of Adam Koebrick and was the step-sister of Mrs. Jack Hart, of Hart court, Charles City. She was employed in Charles City years ago at the telephone office and at one time worked at a local laundry. About 25 years ago she moved to Arkansas with her family and from there to Mississippi. She lived with a daughter at the time of her death.

Mrs. Abel is survived by two daughters and 3 grandchildren. A son was killed in action over Germany during World War II. He was a pilot during the war. Other survivors include two cousins, Harold Hofler, of Nora Springs and Clarence Hofler, of Texas, also an aunt, Mrs. Barbara Hofler of Texas.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Holy Name Catholic church at Rockford, with the Rev. G. C. Lattner officiating and burial was in Osage. The Sheckler funeral home of Nora Springs was in charge of arrangements.

note: Emma Abel's maiden name was Kramer. Her mother Frieda Koebrick (nee Leinhard) was married to Kramer first and second to J. Adam Koebrich. Emma married Herbert William Abel. He died in Louisiana in 1972.

She was buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa where her mother Frieda was also buried
