Funeral services for Rupert R. Sheumaker, 51, of Lyle, who died at his home Tuesday, November 1, were held Friday, November 4, at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiating.

Rupert Roy Sheumaker, the son of Eli and Nellie (Simonton) Sheumaker, was born September 15, 1904, in Wiota, Iowa. He attended grade school in Wiota until his parents moved to the Meltonville community in 1918 where he completed his grade schooling. He was graduated from Carpenter High School in 1925. He continued to make his home with his parents and was employed at various occupations.

Mr. Sheumaker was a veteran of World War II entering the service in 1942 and serving for two years.

On January 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to Anna Dreher at Austin, Minnesota. The following year they purchased a business in Lyle where he had since resided until death came in his sleep November 1 at the age of 51 years, one month and 16 days.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; two brothers, Harold of St. Ansgar and Frank of Carpenter; also two sisters, Irene (Mrs. Wilmer) Krahn of Lyle, and Arlene (Mrs. Guy) Pike of Otranto; also three nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, a niece and a nephew.

Burial was in Woodbury cemetery with Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge of the committal services.
