PROVIDENCE, UTAH - Glen H. Swedberg, 95, of Providence, and formerly of Nora Springs, Iowa, died October 13, 2010, at Sunshine Terrace in Providence.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 22, at the Canyon Road LDS Chapel in Providence.

Glen Howard Swedberg was born on June 14, 1915, in Carpenter, Iowa, the son of Carl A. and Esther (Carlson) Swedberg. He received his education in the Nora Springs Public Schools.

On February 18, 1938, he was united in marriage to Hazel Miller. Glen and Hazel farmed and raised their family east of Nora Springs. They were divorced in 1971.

After leaving the farm, Glen worked as a crop adjuster for an insurance company and received special appreciation in 1988 and again in 1995.

In 1972, he married Beth S. Davis of Washington, Iowa. They moved to Providence, Utah, in 1998. In 1999, he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

During his life, Glen enjoyed rodeos, horseback riding, elk hunting in the Big Horn Mountains, fishing, bowling, gardening, and following the Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his children Carol (Chuck) Meyer, Highland Park, Ill.; Carl (Bobbie) Swedberg, Prairie City; Jane (Keith) Bartley, Abilene, Kansas; and Joe (Amy) Swedberg, Austin, Minn., eight grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his wife Beth, her four children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Judith Suzanne, his first wife Hazel, and his two sisters, Irene V. Kupker, Nora Springs and Helen M. Hildebrand, Belmont, Mass.

Glen arranged to donate his body to the University of Utah Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.
