John "Dick" Voight

(Died October 15, 2010)

John “Dick” Voight, age 88, of Mitchell, died Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and will continue one hour before services at the funeral home.

Dick was born February 26, 1922, on the family farm near Osage, Iowa, the son of Fred and Grace (Woodford) Voight. He attended Mitchell Schools and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1939. Dick married Frances Law on April 6, 1947, in Osage.

Dick is survived by his children, Jean Treece of Mason City, Judy (Richard) Hemann of Osage, Kathy (Bruce) Dodge of Ankeny, Brenda Voight of Boston, Massachusetts, John Voight of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Carl W. “Jim” (Marcella) Voight of Osage; and one sister, Evelyn Tudor of Waverly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Frances in 1994.
