Was 74 Years of Age: Had Lived Here Many Years

Amelia Dorothy Milhan was born October 22, 1857 in Prussia, Germany, and died, September 16, 1932, aged 74 years, 10 months, and 25 days, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Brown, near Darlington, Wisconsin.

The deceased came to America as a youngster of thirteen with her parents in 1870. As an infant she was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran church of which by the grace of God remained a loyal member until the Lord called her home. In 1876, she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony with August Milhan, who preceded her in death 16 years ago. 13 children were born to this union, three of these died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Amelia Deford, died 23 years ago. Two years ago, she came in ailing health, to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Brown. When the end came last Friday morning, her daughters, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Rob Weipert, were with her. She died a victim of cancer.

There remain to remember her in loving rememberances: Mrs. John Brown, Darlington, Wis; Mrs. A.W. Patri, Staples, Minn; Mrs. Rob. Weipert, Lansing, Iowa; Mrs. August Kliem, Browerville, Minn; John, August, Leo Milhan, Riceville, Iowa; Mrs. Noretta Bohardt, Eggleston, Minn.; one brother, Arthur Arndt, Riceville, Iowa; 35 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and a large circle of friends.

The remains where brought from Wisconsin to the home of her son, Arthur, on Saturday. On Monday afternoon, the 19th, after a short service in the home, her pastor, Rev. W. Leckbend, conducted the service in the Lutheran church.

Internment was made in the Riverside cemetery at Riceville. The pall bearers were: E.W. Reckner, Fred Kruger, Wm Vollbrecht, C.F. Lubbert, Wm. Rieken and Ed Rieken.
