August Milhan

The funeral services of the late August Milhan were conducted at the home at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec.11th, and at the Congregational church at 12:30, with burial in Riverside cemetery.

He was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin Germany June 22, 1843, and came to this country from Germany in December 1870, and worked one year in Illinois. He then came to Iowa and has lived the rest of his life in Howard county. He had been in poor health for a long time and died Dec. 8, 1916.

He was married to Amelia Arndt, May 29, 1876, and to them were born thirteen children, six daughters and seven sons. Three died in infancy and one daughter died seven years ago. The rest mourn his loss, Mrs. John Brown, Mrs. Aug. Patri, Mrs. Rob Wiepert , Mrs. Aug. Kliem, Mrs. Will Bohart, John, August, Leo and Arthur.
