Joseph Raymond Eschweiler was born in Stacyville, IA on January 1, 1888, the son of John Nicholas Eschweiler and Maggie (Gerhartz) Eschweiler, and grew to manhood in and around Riceville.
On Feb 10,1911, he was united in marriage to Velma House of Riceville and had lived near Cresco most of the time since. The day his father died, he was taken with pneumonia, and in spite of loving care and best medical aid, he passed away, Sunday, Feb 4,1923, aged 35 years, 2 months and 3 days.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Bernice and Bernard, his mother, three brothers and 3 sisters and a host of friends.
He was a young man of sterling qualities and will be missed by all who knew him. His death seemed doubly sad, following so closely after that of his sister and father. The family has the sympathy of all.
