Harold "Hites" Comisky
OSAGE, IOWA — Harold "Hites" Comisky, 59, of Des Moines, formerly of Osage, died Friday (Aug. 21, 1998) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites conducted by members of Osage American Legion Post No. 278.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage. A scripture service will begin at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Harold was born on November 22, 1938, on the family farm east of Osage, the son of Leo and Charlotte (Kurtz) Comisky. He was educated in the Burr Oak rural school and graduated from Osage High School in 1956.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and after his four-year tour of duty he returned to Osage where he was employed in area construction. He re-enlisted in the Navy and retired in 1979 after serving for 22 years. While in the Navy he was a cook. He resided in Des Moines the last 17 years.
Harold is survived by five sisters, Mary Larson, Mason City, Maureen Brooker and her husband, Dean, Osage, Leone Shepherd, Norwalk, Kathleen Laker and her husband, Gerald, Nakomis, Fla., and Dorothy Kruse and her husband, Clarence, Osage; three brothers, Maurice Comisky and his wife, Janice, Osage, Marlow Comisky and his wife, Ann, Elmwood Park, Ill., and Gary Comisky, Osage; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Merwin Comisky; and an infant sister, Margaret.
