ALBERT W. PENNEY, 83, EARLY MITCHELL COUNTY MAN, DIES OF STROKE
OSAGE, IOWA – Albert W. Penney, 83, died at his home here Monday. Two years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke and last Tuesday he had a second stroke, from which he failed to rally. Born at Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Penney, he came to Stacyville with his parents when he was 5 years old. He lived there until 20 years ago when he moved to Osage, and helped establish Penneyville, a part of the present town of Stacyville.
He was first married to Etta Parlin, who died leaving a family of four children: Warren Penney, now of Tacoma, Wash.; Walter Penney of Hugo, Oregon; Ray Penney; and Miss Bertha Penney of Tacoma, Washington.
Then he was married to Laura Belle Pacey, who survives along with six children: Lynn Penney; Mrs. Hollis Wright (Harriet Penney); Mary Penney, all of Osage; Bess Penney of Des Moines; John Penney of Blairsburg; Mrs. Robert Wright, of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Byther of Chicago; Mrs. Mary White of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and three brothers: Sam and Mell of California, and Frank of Osage. Mr. Penney was a member of the Methodist church here.

PENNEY, Albert W 1853-1936Albert W. Penney passed away at his home in the First ward in Osage Monday forenoon. After a critical illness of about a week. He suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago, from which he never recovered, and a second stroke March 10 was the immediate cause of his death.
Mr. Penney was born 83 years ago at Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Penney. The family came to Mitchell County when Albert was five years of age among the earliest families of the Stacyville vicinity. In fact. The community lying south of Stacyville was given the name "Penneyville" because of this early family and the large number of descendants.
Mr. Penney’s first wife was Etta Parling, and to them were born four children: Warren, of Tacoma, Washington; Walter, Hugo, Oregon; Raymond and Bertha, Tacoma, Washington.
The wife and mother passed away, and Mr. Penney married Belle Pacey, and the following children, along with the four named above, survive him: Lynn, Osage; Beth, Des Moines; John, Blairsburg; Edna (Mrs Robert Wright), St. Louis, Mo.; Harriet (Mrs. Hollis Wright), and Miss Mary, Osage.
Mr. Penney was a staunch member of the Methodist church from the years of his young manhood and taught a Sunday school as long as his health permitted.
He was a great influence in the life of the church at Stacyville and when he moved to Osage his family twenty years ago took his place here in the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Frank A. Court, his pastor, and burial will be made in the Osage Cemetery.
